GAF Gutter Replacement: The Orange County Owner’s Guide
We stock and install GAF-compatible gutter replacement systems throughout Orange County, with most full gutter replacements running $1,800 to $4,600 depending on linear footage and fascia condition. We keep the most common GAF profiles and hangers on our trucks, so a straightforward replacement can usually be scheduled within a few days. Most homeowners figure out their gutters have failed the same way: a drip line appears on the patio during a light rain, or they notice the gutter pulling away from the fascia board near a downspout.
GAF is better known for roofing materials than gutters, so when a GAF gutter system fails, the actual problem is often the hangers, the seams, or the fascia behind it. Greg Holloway has walked plenty of Orange County homes where the gutter looked fine from the ground but was quietly rotting the eave board out of sight. The good news is that this is one of the more straightforward exterior fixes we handle, and we’ll give you a written price before any work starts.
Which GAF Models This Applies To
If your home has a GAF gutter system, it’s almost certainly one of two types: the K-style profile in 5-inch or 6-inch widths, or a half-round profile in 5- or 6-inch. The K-style is far more common in Orange County tract housing, and it’s what you’ll see on most homes built after 1990 from Mission Viejo to Anaheim Hills. The width matters more than you’d think: a 5-inch gutter can handle most Orange County rainfall, but on a steep roof plane or a long run above a vinyl patio cover, a 6-inch gutter moves water noticeably faster during a heavy February downpour.
The specific replacement part you need depends on which component has failed, not the GAF name itself. GAF does not manufacture a proprietary gutter system the way they manufacture Timberline shingles, so “GAF gutter replacement” almost always means matching the existing profile, gauge, and color, then replacing the failed sections or the entire run. If you can find the original install paperwork, it helps. If not, we measure the gutter’s top opening and check the hanger spacing, which tells us what was there and what will match. OEM GAF-branded gutter accessories are no longer broadly distributed, so we typically install quality aftermarket equivalents that meet or exceed the original gauge. If you’re set on a GAF-branded component, we’ll tell you honestly whether it’s still available before we quote the job. That’s the kind of thing you find out the hard way when a contractor swaps in whatever’s on the truck and the color doesn’t match the downspouts. Tilehurst Roofing Orange County is an independent service provider and not affiliated with GAF, which means we’re free to tell you what actually fits rather than what a single brand sells.

Signs Your GAF Gutter Replacement Is Failing
- Water overflowing the gutter lip during light rain. This usually means the downspout is clogged, but if it happens on every rain and the downspout is clear, the gutter pitch has sagged out of level and water is pooling instead of draining.
- Gutter pulling away from the fascia board. The screws or spikes that hold the gutter to the eave have backed out, often because the fascia behind them has started to rot. Tightening them back in usually buys a year at best.
- Visible seams leaking or dripping. Sectional gutters are joined at seams, and those lap joints are the first point of failure on any gutter system. Once a seam leaks, re-caulking it works for a season or two, but the joint has already started to move.
- Water stains or paint peeling on the fascia board behind the gutter. This is the red flag that means water has been getting behind the gutter for months, not weeks. By the time you see it, the wood behind the paint is usually soft.
- Downspout running water even when it hasn’t rained in days. This is rarely the gutter itself – it’s usually a drip line from a nearby AC condensate drain or a roof valley above that’s directing water the wrong way. But it points to the same fix: a gutter run that isn’t capturing and channeling water where it should go.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Full gutter replacement in Orange County runs $1,800 to $4,600 for a typical single-family home. The range comes down to three things: linear footage, gutter width and material, and what’s happening behind the gutter on the fascia board. Seamless aluminum gutters, which we fabricate on site to match the run exactly, run $9 to $14 per linear foot installed. Half-round styles in copper or steel can push the per-foot cost to $25 or more, which is why they’re rare outside of older custom homes in Fullerton or Orange Park Acres.
Every quote we give includes the gutter material, hidden hangers, end caps, downspout connections, and the labor to remove and dispose of the old run. If the fascia board behind the gutter has rot, we’ll show it to you before we quote it, and we’ll write a separate line item for the repair. We don’t bury surprises in the estimate. If the board is solid, you won’t pay for fascia work that never needed doing. The workmanship is covered by our written guarantee, and if a repair fails inside the guarantee period, we return to correct it at no charge under the 365-Day Done Right Promise.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things from the ground or a short ladder: look for visible seams leaking, check whether the gutter is pulling away from the fascia, and note whether downspouts are clear. That’s genuinely useful information to have when you call. What you shouldn’t try to do yourself is replace a gutter run on a two-story home, or on any home where the eave is over 10 feet up. Working off a ladder with a 10-foot section of aluminum in one hand is how people end up with broken wrists and damaged siding. Aluminum is floppy, wind catches it, and the fascia you’re screwing into may not be as solid as it looks from the ground.
We replace gutters that homeowners have attempted themselves fairly often. The common failure is hanging new gutters on a fascia board that had dry rot behind it, which means the whole run starts sagging within six months. The second-most-common failure is not accounting for drainage volume on long runs, so the gutter overflows at the halfway point every time it rains. If you’d rather have us look at it, call (559) 295-5445 and we’ll walk the job before we quote it.
FAQs
Aluminum K-style gutters in Orange County typically last 20 to 25 years before the seams and hangers start to fail, though coastal salt air in places like Laguna Niguel and San Clemente can shorten that to 15 to 20 years. The gutter material itself rarely corrodes; it’s the joints, the screws, and the fascia behind them that go first. If you’re seeing seam leaks and sagging hangers at the 15-year mark, replacing the run is usually more cost-effective than chasing individual failures. Call (559) 295-5445 for an exact quote on your footage.
Yes, if the failure is isolated to one seam, one section, or a few loose hangers, a repair makes sense and typically runs $150 to $400. If you’re seeing multiple seams leaking, widespread hanger failure, or water damage behind the gutter, a section replacement or full run replacement is the better long-term move. We’ll show you exactly what’s failing before we recommend either path so you can make the call with your eyes, not just our word.
A full gutter replacement on a typical single-story home takes one day, including removing the old run, fabricating the new seamless gutters on site, and cleaning up. Two-story homes or jobs with fascia repair can run into a second day. We’ll tell you the schedule before we start, and the crew shows up in the window we give you.
We stock the most common K-style profiles in 5- and 6-inch widths, along with hidden hangers, end caps, and downspout connectors, so most replacements can be scheduled quickly. GAF-branded gutter components are not broadly available anymore, so in practice we install quality aftermarket equivalents that match or exceed the original gauge. If you ask for a specific GAF-branded part, we’ll tell you straight whether it’s still out there and what it costs before you decide. We also stock parts for Owens Corning and CertainTeed gutter-adjacent systems, so if your home has mixed materials from a previous owner, we can usually handle it in one visit.
If your GAF gutters are pulling away, leaking at the seams, or spilling water over the edge, call (559) 295-5445 for a free estimate. You get the price before we touch a shingle. That’s how it starts, and that’s how we stay.
