IKO Ridge Vent Installation: The Orange County Owner’s Guide
We stock and install IKO-compatible ridge vent systems throughout Orange County, and most ridge vent replacement jobs run $650 to $1,400 installed, depending on roof length and the condition of the existing vent. If you’re seeing dark streaks at your ceiling corners or a ridge vent that’s cracked, curled, or pulling loose from the roof line, that’s how most Orange County homeowners first spot the problem. Our crews arrive with IKO-spec vent material on the truck, and we can typically handle the swap in a single visit on standard pitched roofs.
Which IKO Models This Applies To
We install and replace ridge vents on any IKO shingle system, but there is a compatibility factor Orange County homeowners should understand. IKO markets their ridge-vent product line in both a roll-form version (typically the IKO Ridge Vent, a flexible plastic vent that unrolls along the peak) and a pre-cut shingle-over section that pairs with IKO’s architectural shingles. The roll-form version is the one we see most in Orange County. Where it gets tricky is when an IKO roof was finished with a low-profile vent that is no longer manufactured, and the replacement has to match the original slot width cut into the decking. We measure that opening before we order or load anything, so you’re not paying for a vent that arrives and does not fit.
Tilehurst Roofing is an independent installer and not affiliated with IKO. We carry IKO-compatible ridge vent material alongside options from GAF, Owens Corning, and CertainTeed, so if your exact IKO profile is discontinued, we can present an honest alternative instead of forcing a mismatch.

Signs Your IKO Ridge Vent Installation Is Failing
- Dark streaks or moisture staining at ceiling corners. Ridge vents fail by letting water in at the peak, and gravity does the rest. The stain shows up near the top of interior walls first.
- The vent material is cracked or shattered. Plastic ridge vent takes direct sun all day in Orange County. After enough heat cycles, the plastic gets brittle and splits along the top.
- You can see gaps between the vent and the shingle line. The seal at the vent edge fails before the vent itself does in many cases. The wind gets under the edge, and over time the nail line pulls loose.
- You hear the vent flapping during Santa Ana winds. That sound usually means the fasteners have backed out and the vent is working itself free.
- Attic temperature climbs in summer even though the vent is there. A blocked or collapsed ridge vent moves zero air. Your attic runs hotter, your AC works harder, and your shingles age faster from the underside.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For a typical single-story Orange County home, IKO-compatible ridge vent replacement runs $650 to $1,400 installed. The range depends on roof length, the pitch, whether we are replacing just the vent or also cutting a clean new slot at the peak, and the condition of the shingles at the ridge line. What the price includes: removal and disposal of the old vent, new IKO-compatible or OEM vent material, new fasteners, re-sealing along the full length, and a walk-through before we leave. Every Tilehurst Roofing replacement carries a written guarantee, and if the repair fails inside the guarantee period, we return at no charge under our 365-Day Done Right Promise.
DIY or Call Us?
A ridge vent is a roof-liner part, not a deck-chair repair. You are walking the peak of your roof, often on a steep pitch, with tools in hand. We do not recommend a homeowner replace their own ridge vent unless they already have a fall-arrest setup and a solid footing plan. What you can do safely from a ladder or the ground: look for cracks, gaps, or missing fasteners along the ridge line. That tells you the size of the problem. Beyond that, call us at (559) 295-5445. You get a written price before any work starts, and that price does not change at the door. That is how it starts, and that is how we stay.
FAQs
We typically see ridge vents last 12 to 18 years in Orange County, assuming they were installed correctly and the home does not sit in uninterrupted all-day sun at high elevation. Coastal and canyon microclimates vary, but a vent that cracks before 10 years is usually an install problem, not a material problem. Call (559) 295-5445 to have us look at what you have before spending money on what might be the wrong fix.
A small crack in a short section can sometimes be sealed, but we rarely recommend it. Sealing buys a season, not a solution. The vent is a continuous system, and one weak section eventually becomes a leak at the ridge. We will tell you if a repair has a real chance of holding or if it is a patch on borrowed time.
Most replacements are done in one visit, usually 2 to 4 hours for a standard pitched roof. Roof length, whether the decking at the peak needs work, and how easy the crew can access the ridge all matter. We confirm a time window before we arrive and call if anything changes.
We carry IKO-compatible ridge vent material on our Orange County truck, and we also stock options from GAF, Owens Corning, and CertainTeed. If your roof is running a discontinued IKO profile, we will tell you before we take anything off. You will know what is going on with your ridge line and what it costs before we touch a shingle.
