Boral Gutter Replacement: The Orange County Owner’s Guide
Boral gutter replacement in Orange County typically runs $18 to $34 per linear foot installed, with most single-story homes landing between $1,200 and $2,800 depending on the footprint and existing gutter condition. We stock Boral-compatible aluminum and steel gutter profiles on our trucks and can usually complete a full replacement the same week we quote it. Most Orange County homeowners don’t discover a Boral gutter problem until a winter rain sends water cascading over the edge in one spot while the rest of the run drains fine. That’s a section failure, not a whole-system failure, and it’s almost always fixable without touching the roof itself.
What usually happens is this: you notice a drip line forming on the patio concrete below a seam, or you see water staining the fascia board behind the gutter during the first real storm of the season. The gutter itself is still attached. The hangers are still holding. But somewhere along the run, water is getting out where it shouldn’t. That’s the moment to call us before the fascia wood soaks through and you’re paying for carpentry on top of gutter work. Greg Holloway has walked enough Orange County rooftops to know that a failing gutter section caught in October costs a fraction of what the same problem costs if it waits until February.
Which Boral Models This Applies To
Boral doesn’t manufacture gutters as a standalone product line, but their roofing systems are frequently paired with specific gutter profiles during installation, particularly on tile roof transitions where the drip edge and gutter need to work as one continuous water path. The compatibility issue matters most on Boral concrete tile and steel tile roofs, where the overhang geometry is different from asphalt shingle. On those roofs, the gutter needs a wider mouth and a deeper profile to catch water that sheets off tile at a different angle than it does off shingles.
We handle Boral-compatible replacement for 5-inch K-style aluminum, 6-inch half-round steel, and the box gutters that show up on older Orange County ranch homes, especially in the tracts around Fullerton and Orange. The best way to identify what you have is to look at the inside of the gutter near a downspout for an embossed gauge stamp, or measure the opening across the top. If it measures 5 inches and has a flat bottom with a decorative front face, it’s a 5K. If it’s round-backed and smooth, you’ve got half-round. The OEM-versus-aftermarket question with Boral is simpler than most: there is no Boral-branded gutter, so OEM restrictions don’t apply. What matters is matching the profile and gauge to the roof’s drainage load. We use .027-gauge aluminum minimum on Boral tile homes, stepping up to .032 when the roof pitch is steep or the run exceeds 40 feet. Thinner stock from a big-box store will sag within two or three California summers.

Signs Your Boral Gutter Replacement Is Failing
- Water overflowing at one seam while the rest drains fine. This tells you the gutter isn’t pitched correctly anymore. In Orange County, the freeze-thaw cycles we don’t think about, plus the steady settling of clay-rich soil under the foundation, shifts fascia lines over time. What drained perfectly in 2015 now holds water at the middle seam.
- Rust streaks or pinholes along the bottom edge. If you’re seeing orange staining on the outside face of a steel gutter, the galvanized coating has failed from the inside out. Leaf debris sitting wet against the steel for years does this. By the time you see the streak, the metal behind it is thin enough to push a screwdriver through.
- Sections pulling away from the fascia board. The hangers haven’t failed. The wood behind them has. Once the fascia starts rotting, the screws lose their bite and the gutter sags forward, which changes the water path and starts the whole cycle over. This is the most expensive version of the problem because it means fascia repair alongside the gutter replacement.
- Downspout seams leaking or separating at the elbows. The downspout takes a beating in Orange County, especially in canyon wind corridors like Silverado and Modjeska, where a 40-mph gust can torque a seam just enough to start a slow drip. You’ll see a dark stain on the stucco or a green patch on the ground below the elbow joint.
- Water staining on the fascia board behind the gutter. This is the telltale that water is getting behind the gutter, not into it. It usually means the drip edge wasn’t installed to overlap the gutter back properly when the Boral roof went on. Water follows the fascia down behind the gutter and soaks the board from the top.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Here’s what Boral gutter replacement actually costs in Orange County right now, based on the work we’ve quoted in the last twelve months across Anaheim, Santa Ana, Huntington Beach, and the newer tracts south toward Mission Viejo:
- 5-inch K-style aluminum, seamless: $18 to $22 per linear foot installed, including hangers, end caps, and downspout tie-ins. Average single-story ranch with 140 feet of gutter: $2,500 to $3,100.
- 6-inch half-round steel, sectional or seamless: $24 to $29 per linear foot installed. Heavier gauge, better for Boral tile roofs with higher water volume. Average two-story home: $3,400 to $4,400.
- Box gutter rebuild on older Orange County homes: $34 to $48 per linear foot, depending on whether the existing liner can be salvaged or the wood substrate needs replacement. These jobs usually include fascia repair by default because the two fail together.
- Downspout replacement (per 10-foot run): $85 to $140 each, including elbows and straps, installed.
Every gutter replacement we do includes removal and haul-away of the old material, new hangers spaced to manufacturer spec every 18 to 24 inches, and a written workmanship guarantee. The written price you get before we start is the price you pay. If we find rot behind the gutter once it’s off, we’ll stop, show you the damage, and give you a written change order before we touch the fascia. No surprises at the door. That’s been the rule since day one, and it’s how we keep customers from having to call someone else a year later. Call (559) 295-5445 for a free estimate with exact numbers for your roofline.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely inspect your own gutters from the ground with a pair of binoculars, and you can watch what they do during the next decent rain. That’s worth doing. What you shouldn’t do is get on a ladder with a cordless drill and start resecuring sections that have pulled away from a rotten fascia, because the structural failure behind the gutter is the actual problem, and screwing into compromised wood gives you about six months before the whole section comes down with the next Santa Ana wind. Gutter work also means working at the eaves, often near power service lines on older Orange County homes, and the fall risk is real even on a one-story ranch. If the section is leaking at a seam and the board behind it is solid, a reseal might buy you a season. If the board is soft, the gutter needs to come off, the wood needs to be replaced, and the gutter needs to go back on correctly pitched. That’s a two-person job with proper flashing and sealant, and it’s the kind of repair we’d rather put our guarantee behind than read about in a follow-up call. If you’re not sure which situation you have, call us at (559) 295-5445 and describe what you’re seeing. We’ll tell you whether it’s worth a service call or whether you can wait until spring.
FAQs
Seamless aluminum gutters on an Orange County home last 20 to 25 years on average, though steel half-round can go 30 years or more if the debris gets cleaned out regularly. The real lifespan killer here is not rain; it’s the combination of dry leaf litter sitting in the trough for eleven months and then getting soaked in January. If your gutters are 15 years old and you’re noticing small cracks or seam drips, you’re probably in the replacement zone now rather than the repair zone. Call (559) 295-5445 and we’ll give you an honest read on what you’ve got left.
Yes, if the section is sound and the issue is a single failed seam or a separated end cap, we can reseal and re-pitch that section for $180 to $320, which is a fraction of replacement cost. But if the gutter is showing pinholes along the bottom or the hangers are pulling out of soft fascia wood, repair becomes a patch on top of a problem, and you’ll spend more stringing it along than you would have spent on the replacement. We’ll tell you which one applies before we quote anything.
Most single-story Orange County homes with under 200 linear feet of gutter are done in one day, including removal, haul-away, and cleanup. Two-story homes take two days if the crew is working off ladders, and any fascia repair adds a day because the wood needs to be cut, fitted, primed, and flashed before the gutter goes back up. You get a written schedule before we start, and the finished job includes a walkthrough so you can see the water test before we leave.
We stock 5-inch and 6-inch aluminum coil, half-round steel sections, hangers, end caps, elbows, and downspout parts on our vehicles for the most common Orange County profiles, which means most replacements don’t require a second trip for materials. We also maintain supply relationships for GAF, Owens Corning, and CertainTeed adjacent products, so if your gutter work touches a roof edge detail from one of those systems, we’re not chasing parts across three suppliers. Tilehurst Roofing Orange County is an independent service provider and not affiliated with Boral, but we’ve worked around their roof systems long enough to know what the gutter interface needs.
You get the price before we touch a shingle. That’s how it starts, and that’s how we stay. If your Boral gutters are failing, don’t wait for the next storm to confirm it. Call (559) 295-5445 and schedule a free estimate. Greg and the crew will come out, walk the roofline, and put a written number in your hand before any work begins.
